Congratulations to the winners of the 2007 AFUW and Georgina Sweet Fellowships,
Jenny Giles and Rebecca Monson.
Jenny, who holds a B.Env.Sc. (Hons) and a B.A. in Indonesian Studies,
is currently completing her PhD at the University of Queensland in the
Faculty of Biological and Chemical Sciences. Her thesis topic is Characterising
the Australian contribution to the Indo-Pacific shark fin trade: a DNA-based
method to assign species and geographic origin to unknown fins.
Rebecca holds B. A. and LL.B.degrees from Monash University and is currently
enrolled for her PhD at the Australian National University's College of
Law. The title of her thesis is Land Rights of Melanesian Women: Problems
and Prospects.
